Marine Growth Prevention System requires protection on the
surfaces of Jetties in the sea, Vessel intake Chambers, Sea-Chest,
Heat Exchangers, Condensers and other downstream seawater pipelines
with associated pumps (Cooling Water, Fire and Supply) which could
cause plant shutdown blockages due to the marine growth.
These can be reduced and protected by using proper Anti-Fouling
Methods to prevent shutdown blowckages. Prevention can
be carried out using these System to produce Hypochloride
which could be generated injecting Direct Current between the Copper
Rod and Cathode which require dose of Copper for preventing Marine
Growth measured in micrograms per litre of seawater. This can be
achieved by measuring the flow rate and automatically adjusting
the current to match the result.
The excessive scale build-up on the Cathode plates can be prevented
by injecting Direct Current between the Aluminium Rod and Cathode
which deposit Aluminium Hydroxide Floc containing scale and forms
a self-limiting friable film readly broken down by turbulent flow.
Further downstream, any ferrous equipment receives protection with
the Aluminium Oxides incorporating into iron oxide corrosion products
to form a spinel structure which is very adherent and reduces overall
CORROSION rates.
